About Sneem International Storytelling & Folklore Festival

There is a complete weekend of storytelling, folklore, performs, making a song, laughter, and notable craic to healthy each member of your own family in the colorful village of Sneem. Come along and spot what is happening in November, small village - large amusement. The 8th annual pageant continues to present the best of an antique way of life along new performance; via artists of various ages from many locations. It is focused on Sneem Hotel with occasions unfold for the duration of the village. This year’s storytellers are Kate Corkery, from Cork and London, Liz Weir from Northern Ireland, Ray O’Sullivan & Batt Burns from Kerry and singer Jimmy Crowley from Cork, and guest tellers Paddy Regan , Vincent Hyland. All performers will seem inside the popular Friday night concert with a lot of them taking element in our Storytelling Pub Trail and story swaps across the village.

 

The Young Tellers will enthrall you with their youthful enthusiasm for storytelling. These gifted kids represent the destiny of the telling culture and appear due to our founder, Batt Burns, active determination to maintaining the nearby lifestyle with training and assist. This year they've  quick plays on Saturday night time. The first one written and achieved by Kate Corkery is the Sweetshop on the Shore is a fantastic memory of her adolescence in a colorful fishing network. The function play is developed thru the Show in a Bag programme, supported through Fishamble, The Irish Theatre Institute and The Dublin Fringe Festival. Brendan Galileo for Europe is written and performed through Fionn Foley. Patrons also can stay up for youngsters’s performances all through the weekend and as in other years the competition opens with storytelling inside the barn. The South Kerry Rosen Choir are returning to entertain inside the Church of the Transfiguration.
