Phulora - The festival of forest
About Phulora - The festival of forest
The lush fields, the land covered in green anywhere, rain dripping from leaf to leaf W. H. Davies creates this lovable picture for them in his poem ‘The Rain’. As torrential rains mellow down to a drizzle, Shraavan begins sending sparks of exhilaration in our hearts. This Shraavan month is surprisingly brilliant, mainly in Palghar and the encircling tribal regions! Their tribal brothers and sisters work tough in the fields throughout the day, relieving their fatigue inside the night thru traditional folk songs, trumpet tunes, and dancing footsteps. As the rice saplings dance thankfully playing the rains and the light, every household is full of the aroma of piping warm chulha bhakris and monsoon veggies from the jungle.
They have found and preserved the numerous vegetables, tubers, fruits, plant life with medicinal homes which spring up in the surrounding forests at some stage in monsoons . Folk dances from this vicinity consisting of Tarpa, Dhol and Gauri are considered as people dances of Maharashtra nowadays. Warli artwork, celebrating the whole existence cycle of tribals, originated right here and is now recognized the whole world over. Located simply eighty km from Mumbai, this wealthy piece of nature has remained pretty distant from the urban panorama.
