About Palio del Golfo

 

The Palio del Golfo takes place every year at the beginning of August in the sea of La Spezia. This year the 94th edition takes place from Friday 2 to Monday 5 August . It is a rowing race "type palio" with hulls similar to the goiter. The real Palio takes place on Sunday. On Friday evening, night parade of boats and delivery of palios. Saturday begins with the measurement and control of the boats in Piazza del Mercato.

 

To conclude and animate the evening is a concert always in the Civic Theater and the dinner of the villages Sunday opening ceremony and at 5 pm the Palio of the Gulf of women begins. The Palio junior category follows. During the day it will also be possible to attend the commemoration of those killed in the sea. The evening is animated by fireworks. Monday the awarding of the winnersof the Palio and the parade that represents the most colorful and eventful moment of the event, which ends in Piazza Europa where the Gonfaloni are delivered to the winners of the race.
