Minneapolis Aquatennial
About Minneapolis Aquatennial
The Minneapolis Aquatennial is a yearly open air occasion held in the U.S. city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the third entire seven day stretch of July. Beginning in 1940, the Minneapolis Aquatennial praises the city's renowned lakes, waterways, and streams. Promoted as The Best Days of Summer the celebrations beforehand incorporated nearly 70 occasions, including sand stronghold building, shoreline volleyball, a tennis invitational, a marathon, marches, Subway Block Party and the last Target Fireworks. The yearly "Drain Carton Boat Races," highlighted different divisions of vessel races with pontoons built of drain containers. The firecrackers show is one of the biggest in the nation, and bigger than the city's Fourth of July festivity.
Minneapolis celebrated its centennial in 1956 in conjunction with the Aquatennial. The city's sesquicentennial was July 24– 27, 2008, the year Minnesota commended 150 long periods of statehood. The Queen of the Lakes Scholarship Program is seven days in length hopeful program for ladies ages 18– 22 that is held in Minneapolis in conjunction with the Minneapolis Aquatennial each July. The Queen of the Lakes and two Aquatennial Princesses are spoken to the celebration and city of Minneapolis everywhere throughout the state, country and world. Fifty young ladies speaking to networks all through the territory of Minnesota take an interest in this ideal program.
