Kangasniemi Music Week
About Kangasniemi Music Week
Kangasniemi Music Week focuses on song music. The concert venue is Kangasniemi, and the program includes courses for singers and musicians as well as Kangasniemi song contest. Artistic Director is Mikko Franck. Kangasniemi Music Week is organized by the Kangasniemi Music Friends Association, founded in 1979. The purpose of the association is to support, promote and organize music hobbies and activities. The association organizes concerts and training in cooperation with, among others. Kangasniemi Municipality and Civic College and various partners. At present, the courses at the Summer Academy of Songs are organized at the Christian College of Jyvaskyla. Previous partners have been, for example: The Finnish Church of the Interior Church, Agricola Training Center and concert organizers include: The city of Pieksämäki and the municipality of Hankasalmi and the Music Association.
Kangasniemi Music Week began with the Kangasniemi Music Course, organized by the association since 1980 together with Kangasniemi Citizens' College now Puula's Regional University. The activities expanded to song courses and concerts, and the first Kangasniemi Music Week was held in 1983.
