Historic Carousel - Palio di Sant'Oliva
About Historic Carousel - Palio di Sant'Oliva
The Palio di Sant'Oliva of Saturday 27 July is the last occasion of the Carosello Storico di Cori, a district in the territory of Latina. It is gone before by two different occasions in June: the Priors Oath and the Palio of the Madonna del Soccorso. The Historical Carousel reviews the festivals that, in the primary portion of the 16th century, were held to pay tribute to Sant'Oliva, supporter holy person of Cori since the 12th century. The challenge of the Palio comprises of a race of the ring, a trial of extraordinary aptitude on the grounds that the running riders must embed rings with a breadth of 3 cm with a knife. The prize is won by the "Porta" rione which punctures more rings.
Prior to the Palio, a chronicled parade with around 400 figures in Renaissance outfits marches through the roads of the city. The parade is partitioned into 4 segments, one speaking to the Community of Cori and the other three of the three Porte di Cori: Ninfina, Romana and Signina. As in June, the night prior to the Palio incredible propitiatory meals in the bars of the town.
