About Canadian Ballet Festival

The Canadian Ballet Festival was a yearly occasion arranged in Canada from 1948 to 1954 that united different Canadian move organizations to create open enthusiasm for traditional dance. Kay Armstrong, with the British Columbia School of Dancing, anticipated performing which would have set up her as the main Canadian choreographer with a unique expressive dance. The Third Annual Festival happened in November 1950 in Montreal with fifteen Canadian organizations and 23 unique Canadian ballets. Sydney Johnson and Marcel Valois composed presentations in the 1950 program. Le Ballet Concert performed Étude and Le Rêve Fantasque. Celia Franca, originator of the National Ballet of Canada, was welcomed by the CBFA to be a guest.
