About Black Nights Film Festival

The Black Nights Film Festival only and only talks about all the important aspects of cinema famous across the globe. It was begun in 1997, in which Poff was predominantly a show for viewers eyes for Nordic film, but gradually one can see the way it has climbed the heights of success. As a result, in recent years, only 40 percent of features have been Scandinavian & East European productions, and rest 60 percent have been meticulously kept for world cinema. The name The Black Nights drags your mind towards the long and black wintry nights of Tallinn, and therefore the dark evenings here look flawless to bolt yourself in an amazingly glamorous film world. Talking about the proceedings of the film fest, firstly, it includes the main program of a film screenings of feature films from the last two years, emphasis on a country, retrospective of a filmmaker and awards and recognition by judging panel and spectators. Secondly, four sub-festivals are also organized for more than two weeks with an aim to amuse the accumulated Estonian gathering. These encompass the Sleepwalkers' Student Film Festival offering audiences the ultimate option to watch fiction, animation and documentary produced by students in the last two years, along with a competition of short animations from previous two years. The Black Market event, a new regional cinema and audiovisual market exposes films made by smaller film industries. However, you may also encounter sections deliberately assigned for animated shorts, youth film festival and children's films. So, in this way, you can say that such global film rendezvous are an innovative step to build strong relations amongst the participating countries. Rather encourages the non-participating countries others to join hands if longing for a better world.
