About Befana Benefica
The Befana Benefica is a charity procession taken out by the bikers from all across Italy who gather up on the streets of Milan every year. The entire scene is enough to drive a bike freak out of his/ her wits to shout out in passion and excitement. The roads are covered with thousands of bikes and the rugged tough bikers with biking jackets, skull bandannas and other raw accessories. The air is that of festivity and celebrations with the roaring engines and ascending acceleration dominating the whole atmosphere. The first edition of Befana Benefica was held in the year 1967 with the spearheading of a group of members of the Moto Club Ticino. Since then it has been an integral part of the Milan culture in spreading the message if generosity and kindness. The celebrations begin at the Cathedral Square where over 7,000 bikers sparks on the ignition and wait for the old women- Befana who zooms in a fancy bike escorted by the cops. The parade charges through towns, streets and schools and upon their arrival, the bikers are greeted with warm gestures, gifts and sweets. In return the bikers also presents food and gifts to the kids and the people in need. So, very justified to give it the slogan of- A Smile For A Day!
