Upon arriving in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, you will be picked up from Viru Viru International airport and taken to your hotel. In the afternoon you will have a 3 hour tour to the most attractive and affluent sites of Santa Cruz such as: the zoo where regional fauna and various endangered species can be seen; museums; principal monuments; residential neighborhoods; and La Recoba handcraft market. Your journey will start through the Amazon plains and thelast branches of the Andes range. The first stop will be at Samaipata ruins, the majestic and mysterious pre-Inca ruins, located in the top of a hill with a big ceremonial center carved in the stones. After that you will go to Samaipata, to take a stroll of town and visit its local museum. Then we will return to Santa Cruz.
You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the airport to your flight to Sucre, a colonial city, declared Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO, upon arriving you will be taken to your hotel. In the afternoon we will visit the city, that includes the visit of: Casa de la Libertad, where the Act of Independence of Bolivia was signed in 1825; Bolivar Park, to see examples of the aristocratic tradition of Sucre, with small replicas of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc of Triumph of Paris; the church and museum of La Recoleta, and the museum of Indian Textiles ASUR.
Your departure will be early in the morning from Sucre towards the indigenous community of La Candelaria, passing through Tarabuco. On Sundays we participate and see the famous indio-market of Tarabuco. Other days it is just a short stop and we continue to the town of La Candelaria. Upon arrival you will visit the Hacienda and the houses of local ladies where we will be able to see how they work on their famous “Tarabuco textiles”. You will enjoy a traditional lunch. After that we will return to Sucre.
We will go by bus following different valleys to ascend through the highlands to the city of Potosi, declared a Cultural and Natural Heritage site by the UNESCO. In the afternoon we will have a tour in Cerro Rico Mines. This excursion allows the visitors to experience an unforgettable trip hundreds of meters underground, to see the living and working conditions of the Bolivian miners (protective clothing and helmets are provided). The silver mine is in the famous Cerro Rico, once the richest of the world.
In the morning we will visit the Mint House, traditional colonial streets, San Francisco and San Lorenzo churches. After having lunch we will go to Uyuni in the afternoon, crossing branches of the Andes range, old mining centers and villages, with nice landscapes and Indian communities. Upon Arrival we will continue to Colchani.
The Great Salt Flats will be waiting for us. On the way Colchani village will be seen, where we will meet an artisanal salt processing plant and watch the salt extraction methods. The trip will continue to Incahuasi Island (also known as Fish Island) amazing giant cactus will be seen. After having a delicious lunch, you will visit the Coquesa Mommies and continue to San Juan.
This will be a long day; your departure will be early in order to enter the REA (National Reserve Eduardo Abaroa), after that we will be visiting Laguna Colorada, declared a RAMSAR site due to the nesting of over 30,000 flamingos at 4,278 m. Then we will go up to geysers “Sol de Mañana", and pass alongside Challviri lagoon, with its hot spring in the shores of Polques. We will cross through the high desert of Pampas de Dali, with amazing views, to finally reach Laguna Verde, in the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain. After that, you will go all the way back north to Villamar.
After breakfast we will visit the Cave Paintings and the Fort of Tomás Lakjas. We will continue to Uyuni, visiting on the way the Rocks Valley and going through Alota and San Cristobal villages. After having lunch you will be transferred out to the airport for your flight to La Paz. Upon arrival in La Paz you will be taken to your hotel.
Your trip to Tiahuanaco will start at KM 72, passing the highlands, one of the oldest American cultures, considered the cradle of the American man. Visit the temple of Kalasasaya, Gate of the Sun, monoliths Ponce and Fraile, Akapana pyramid and Semiunderground temple, as well as the local museums. After lunch you will return to La Paz. The city tour will include street markets, rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft artifacts. Then San Francisco church, Murillo square with the Congress, Government palaces and Cathedral.
Going towards the north through the highlands and parallel to the Andes Royal you will arrive to Copacabana, a beautiful town in the shore of Lake Titicaca. You will visit the Virgen Morena and its church, have a stroll of town. With the boat we will go to the Island of the Sun and land in Huacani port, we will enjoy having a typical lunch “Aptapi”. After that we will hike for about 45 min to arrive to La Estancia Ecolodge.
You would not like to miss this great sunrise! We will go by boat to La Chincana, to meet this great Inca ruins, our journey will continue by boat to the Moon Island, we will visit the Iñak Uyu ruins by boat to Copacabana.
You will have a morning flight to Rurrenabaque and trip north through the lowlands, crossing the towns of Reyes and Santa Rosa, to then enter the Yacuma River with an incredible forest with lots of animals mainly in the dry season from April to November, great time to see fauna.
In the Morning we will go by boat to the Beni and Tuichi Rivers to Chalalan. This will take around 5 to 6 hours. After arriving, we will walk through the forest to the lodge for ½ hour. At the shores of the Chalalan lagoon we will lunch and rest. In the afternoon, we will learn more about Madidi National Park and the project of the community. The trek will continue through the Chichilo and Mirador trails focusing in the field of construction. We will have dinner and continue the trekking to see the rich night wildlife in the rainforest.
We will be trekking in the Silbador, Mutua and Anta trails to see the fields of fruit, medicinal and exotic plants. We will enjoy our lunch and spend some time swimming in the lagoon. In the afternoon; you will enjoy didactic games or see the bibliography of the project. Then the trek will continue to the Wichi and Jaguar trails, we will take special interest in the area of artisan plants and also enjoy birdwatching. After dinner, we will listen to San Jose de Uchupiamonas’s traditional histories and legends from the locals.
