In Delhi, Points of interest include Red Fort, the silver street of Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque), Raj Ghat (where Father of the Nation was buried), India Gate, Qutab Minar complex, Humayuns tomb and Lotus Temple. If you opt for Kolkata, some of the attractions you might be interested in include Fort William, Howrah Bridge, Queen Victoria Memorial, Birla Planetarium and Marble Palace.
Take a flight from Delhi or Kolkata to Bagdogra. After arriving at Bagdogra you will drive towards Darjeeling. Overnight stay at the hotel in Darjeeling.
After a short drive and covering the distance of 30 kms you will reach Martam village. You can visit the Monastery of Rumtek. It has a Golden Stupa which houses the relics of His Holiness Karmapa, the head of a school of thought in Buddhism. Overnight stay will be at the village resort in Martam.
After a short drive of 70 kms from Martam you will reach Kalimpong which is an important center of Indo-Bhutanese trade. There are a few monasteries and markets that you can visit. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Today we are leaving India and we are heading towards Phuentsholing in Bhutan. The drive will take around 7 hours. Overnight stay at a hotel in Phuentsholing.
You have time untill lunch to explore Phuentsholing before we head towards Thimpu. You can visit two beautiful Buddhist temples, Zangto Pelri, a small temple representing Guru Rinpoche heaven, and Karbandi Monastery.
Enjoy the whole day travelling in and around Thimpu while exploring local places of interest. Visit Simtokha Dzong standing on a ridge in Thimpu Valley, Folk Heritadge Institute and Rashichhoedzong, also know as "fortress of the glorious religion". Overnight stay at a hotel.
In the morning, you can visit the Kings Palace, the Library that contains ancient texts, Heritage Museum and the Stupa (Chorten) built in memory of the late Kings. In the afternoon you will drive towards Paro (2 hrs). Overnight stay at a hotel in Paro.
In Paro, you can visit the National Museum where you can see spectacular collection of arts, the Rhipung Dzong monastery, the local market and other areas. You can also visit the Taktshang or Tigers Nest which has a very important place in local legends. Overnight stay at a hotel in Paro.
The journey ends and you will board a flight to Delhi or Kolkata from the International Airport at Paro. After that, you can board the international flight to fly back home, carying with you amazing memories from your East India tour.
