Visit Sigiriya Rock (optional)
Sigiriya, a massive rock in the green scrub jungle, is perhaps the most memorable place for visitors

to Sri Lanka. The site was known from ancient times as a hermitage for Buddhist monks. A well-
planned monastic complex included caved temples, bathing pools, lovely ponds and Asia’s oldest

surviving landscaped gardens. Today Sigiriya is famous for its frescoes painted in the pocket of the
rock. The Lion stairway, the mirror wall and the water gardens are its other highlights
Transfer to Kandy
Visit Dambulla Cave (optional)
Dambulla Rock Temple - was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. Dambulla is a
world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka/‟s cave temples. The complex of five
caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found
in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal
figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

Day 4 : Kandy /– nuwara eliya

For Buddhists, Kandy is the sacred city. The focal point is the Dalada Maligawa also known as
Temple of the tooth, (optional) where the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha is enshrined.
There are many shrines and temples in and around Kandy, where you will see rare paintings,
frescoes, wood and stone carvings.
Visit Royal botanical Garden (optional)
Peradeniya are about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri
Lanka. It attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is near the Mahaweli River (the longest in Sri
Lanka). It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species
of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.Attached to it is the National
Herbarium of Sri Lanka. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0.59 km2), at 460
meters above sea level, and with a 200-day annual rainfall. It is managed by the Division of
National Botanical Gardens of the Department of Agriculture.

Day 5 : Nuwara eliya /– bentota

Transfer to Bentota via Pinnawala approx. 06.00 Hrs
Enroute visit Pinnawala Elephant orphanage (optional)
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (PEO) ; just as the name suggests holds a unique disposition in
the ex-situ animal care. It/’s success and fame has travelled not just with in the country but
through out the world to an extent where Pinnawala synonymous with the Sri Lankan Elephant.
Currently being a home to 93 elephants the concept was actualized by the late Hon. Minister
Kalugalle on the 16th of February 1975. Pinnawala at the time was a very remote area with lush
coconut plantations and most importantly an area where the availability of mahouts was not
lacking. Also the immense amount of water required by the elephants is supplemented with the
availability of /“Ma oya/” running close by.
Proceed to Bentota
Located in the sun-kissed southern coastline, Bentota is popular for family holidays and
sparkling beach weddings, first-time visitors and honeymooners. The town itself is absolutely an
oasis for self-proclaimed resort lovers and a coastal haven dotted with luxury boutique hotels and
five-star hotel chains.
Bentota offers you a complete holiday experience bottling up a whole lot of delights including
long stretches of turquoise beaches, adventure tours, bar life, spicy night life and fresh sea food
cravings. Water sport activities like canoeing, sailing, jet skiing, windsurfing and banana boat
rides are best enjoyed in Bentota.

Day 6 : Bentota

Madhu River Ride (Optional )
Enjoy a scenic cruise along the Madu River, a relaxing trip with plenty of interesting stops. You pass dozens
of islets forested with mangroves and can appreciate the timeless natural rhythms of rural life. You cruise in
canopies, outboard motors powered boats, en route take in the view of a 200 year old temple and watch the
locals cultivating cinnamon. You may also see traditional fishing techniques in action and can view
demonstrations of coir manufacture and rope making. You can also see 46 species of birds reside in the area
including 14 aquatic varieties. You will also spot huge water lilies and colourful butterflies.
Turtle Hatchery (Optional )
Sri Lanka has a couple of places on the island which are synonymous for turtle hatchery and conservation.
These nice places are a special treat if you are an animal enthusiast.
The coastal area of the island is where you should head to witness a turtle hatchery -where turtle eggs are
being hatched and small and rescued turtles are being taken care of.
