A short drive from Mumbai and Pune, Dapoli is a seaside hill station on the Konkan Coast. Known for its pristine beaches, hot springs, temples and forts, the town is a perfect getaway for weary city slickers. On your first day in Dapoli, you could head to Unhavare Hot Springs. Soak your feet and relax in the warm bubbling water rumoured to have medicinal properties. Your next stop should be Anjarle. With its cliff top Ganesh Temple, acres of beetle nut plantations and white sand beach, it/’s the perfect place to spend the evening. Dapoli is a paradise for adrenaline junkies. All its beaches offer a host of water sports including parasailing, banana boat rides, bumper rides and jet ski rides with Murud being the biggest hub. Another treat in Dapoli is dolphin watching. Take a boat ride from the shores off to the deep seas to spot a dolphin fin or two. Dapoli, called mini Mahabaleshwar by many, was a summer camp for British Troops in the Raj. That influence is still apparent today in the ruins of St Andrews Church and the Alfred Gadney School that you can still visit. Later, make your way to the magnificent Suvarnadurg. An island fortress built by Shivaji Maharaj, the impressive structure is only accessible by boat. Pay a visit and enjoy a delicious Konkani lunch before you leave Dapoli for your drive back home.
