Also located in the East Khasi district, this village has won the title of Asia cleanest village in 2003 and India cleanest village in 2005. This village is also referred as Gods own garden. Umiam Lake, a mesmerizing man-made reservoir, is located at a distance of 15 kilometres north of Shillong which is the capital of the north-eastern Indian state of Meghalaya. The sunrise at the lake is a treat to watch and shouldn be missed. The Umiam Lake has a park adjoining it which is a hotspot for picnics and frequented by locals for a getaway from their busy scheduled. Definitely the most popular tourist site of Shillong, these falls are 12km from the city and can be easily reached by public transport.
