COLOMBO – NEGOMBO – WILPATTU – ANURADHAPURA (235km – 5
n the morning, depart early around 05:00 hrs to visit Anuradhapura via Negombo. En route, stop to
explore the wilderness of Wilpattu National Park. Enjoy a Jeep safari journey through the national park.
After the safari, enjoy lunch in Anuradhapura. After, experience the Sacred City of Anuradhapura in
the evening hours, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to the hotel in Anuradhapura for dinner

Wilpattu National Park
Wilpattu sanctuary was declared as a National Park in 1938, Wilpattu National Park is located
on the west coast close to the historical city of Anuradhapura .The dry zone jungle is thickly
grown. Wilpattu Natonal Park is home for many villus, or natural lakes which dot the landscape
in the Wilpattu National Park. Except for two, These lakes contain rainwater, thus are
important for resident and migratory water-birds.
The history of the park is also of interest with ancient ruins having been discovered in Wilpattu
National Park. Queen named “Kuweni” (considered to be the mother of the Sinhala race) is said to
have lived in the place known as Kalli Villu. Historical evidence also shows the fact that Prince Saliya,
son of King Dutugemunu lived in Wilpattu over 2,000 years ago.
ANURADHAPURA – TRINCOMALEE – DAMBULLA (220km – 4 hrs)
Morning venture to Mihintale rock to enjoy the serenity atop. Breakfast en route. Afterwards, proceed
to Trincomalee, visiting the historical Kantale Dam. On arrival to the coastal town of Trincomalee, walk
around the old Dutch Fort and visit the Koneswaram temple, one of the most significant Hindu temples
in Sri Lanka. Lunch in the city. After lunch, proceed to board a boat to Pigeon Island to feel the ocean
breeze. Afterwards, head south to Dambulla to experience the cave temple and other attractions.
Dinner and overnight stay in Dambulla. Accomodation: Standard 3* Hotel. § Overnight at hotel in

Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the
site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated
the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site, and the site of several religious
monuments and abandoned structures.
DAMBULLA – COLOMBO (165km – 4 hrs)
After breakfast, proceed to Sigiriya rock fortress and climb atop the ancient rock citadel. Continue to
Colombo after lunch with approximate drop-off time at 17:00 hrs at your hotel in the Colombo city area.

Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of
Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological
significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres high.
