After arriving in Auckland, collect your rental vehicle and take a short drive into Auckland city. Enjoy a free day to explore downtown Auckland sights which include world-class restaurants, great shopping and the beautiful viaduct harbour.

Experience a panoramic view of the city from the Sky Tower and Mount Eden or wander through the lawns and gardens of The Domain. Here, take time to visit the War Memorial Museum. And, for the plant lovers, the winter garden houses exotic plants. Or take a drive out to one of West Auckland’s rugged beaches, the choice is yours.

After collecting your rental car from downtown Auckland, you’ll set off towards the Waikato region on your Rotorua adventure! Optionally, visit the world famous Waitomo Glow Worm caves by taking a detour tol settle for the the night in Rotorua.

Today is dedicated to local Rotorua sightseeing and activities. Options include Agrodome with an entertaining farm show, you’ll learn all about New Zealand farming and animals. Your final stop of the day is at Te Puia where a Maori welcome and cultural performance will entertain you. After the performance, experience a guided tour of Te Puia’s geothermal mud pools and geysers.

Returning to Auckland, you fly to Queenstown to begin your southern sojourn. On landing, collect your rental vehicle and spend the afternoon exploring the town. Or, take leisurely strolls along the lake-shore or the gardens nearby.

To avoid the long drive, today includes a luxury coach and cruise of Milford Sound, one of the eight wonders of the natural world. The day trip takes you across picturesque mountains, valleys, lakes and towns and gives you many photo opportunities. Finally, the cruise itself in the fiord surrounded by forest-covered high cliffs is unforgettable. Hundreds of waterfalls make this fiord magical after rains. Penguins and dolphins are also often sighted.

Adventure or relaxation? The choice is yours. Ride up to Bob’s peak on the Skyline Gondola optional for world class views of Queenstown and surrounds. Next, enjoy a relaxed afternoon exploring Queenstown gardens and lake front or choose an optional adventure activity like jet boating or bungy jumping.

The entire Wakatipu basin is surrounded by high mountains with wineries, farms, ski-fields and bungy sites over river gorges. Explore and seek adventure as your mood dictates and close the day with fun and frolic. Dinner time gives you many options at any of the numerous pubs and restaurants in Queenstown. Visit Arrowrown and Wanaka if you are keen to know about New Zealand’s gold-mining history and the rough pioneer days.

Today’s highlights is the drive through scenic Canterbury. Stop at the azure waters of Lake Pukaki. Gaze at the majestic Mount Cook while you break for lunch or coffee. Keep your camera handy for photo opportunities of the Southern Alps and lake views.

This day you and traverse across the Canterbury plains to Christchurch. Enroute, see the Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo. Perhaps take a slightly longer scenic route through the Peel forest? Stop at Darfield for an excellent brew of coffee before the final run in to Christchurch.

After making your way to Christchurch airport and dropping off your rental car, complete any shopping that is left before departing from New Zealand.
