After arriving in Auckland, collect your rental vehicle and take a short drive into Auckland city. Enjoy a free day to explore downtown Auckland sights which include world-class restaurants, great shopping and the beautiful viaduct harbour.

Today’s journey South takes you to Rotorua to experience Geothermal sights and a Maori cultural performance at Te Puia. Optionally take a detour to visit the glow-worm caves at Waitomo.

A scenic drive to Napier takes you to the famous Hawke’s Bay wine growing region. There’s time in the afternoon to visit vineyards like Church Road and Mission Estate. A stroll along Napier’s Marine Parade after dinner is the perfect way to finish the day

Wellington is New Zealand’s political capital. Take a stroll along Oriental bay or to the peak of Mt Victoria for 360 degree views. Visit New Zealand’s national Te Papa museum. Or, take a ride on the cable car to the botanic gardens.

This morning you’ll cross Cook Strait on the Interislander Ferry, passing through the stunning Marlborough Sounds on your arrival to the South Island. After a short drive to Blenheim, your afternoon is free to explore the Marlborough Region, another great wine producing area.

Your first stop today is at Kaikoura for a Whale Watching cruise. Optionally, try a gourmet lunch of famous Kaikoura cray-fish. After lunch you’ll proceed to Christchurch. A stop to see the Kaikoura fur seal colony is highly recommended. Once you’ve checked in at your Christchurch Hotel, your evening is free to explore the city.

Depending on your departure time, explore Christchurch before you return your rental car at the airport.
