Lake Kariba

Located on the Zambezi river and lying along the borders of Zimbabwe and Zambia, Lake Kariba happens to be the largest artificial water reservoir in the world. This lake is a staggering 220 kilometers long and some 40 kilometers wide. Consequently, it covers an area of a mammoth 5,580 square kilometers with the maximum water depth touching 97 meters. These numbers definitely make it a must visit.

You can find several small island on this lake and as a result the ecology of Lake Kariba is very much diverse and vibrant. A rich fishery that it is, a traveller can view hippopotamus and Nile crocodiles in this water body.
