About Hwange National Park

This is not only the most famous national park of Zimbabwe, it is one of the best known in entire African continent. More than 100 species of animals and 400 species of birds have been recorded here. The main attraction for sure are herds of hundreds of great African Elephants roaming around majestically. The park is also one of the few well maintained elephant sanctuaries in Africa. Hwange National Park covers an area of nearly 14,651km2 just on the edge of Kalahari desert, one of the driest spots in the world. There is nearly 300 mile network of roads that criss cross the park taking you to all the most important attractions of the park. The best is the 10 mile stretch which covers area which has the highest density of animals. There is a permanent safari camps called Hide, located on the eastern boundary of the park. There are many hidden spots underground as well as above, from where you can watch wildlife as close as possible, without getting noticed or disturbing the habitat.
