Chinhoyi Caves

These caves are the most elaborate cave system in Zimbabwe that the public can have an access to. Declared a national park way back in 1955, the Department of National Parks is the body that looks after it. Chinhoyi Caves is a group of caves located some 8 km north of Chinhoyi town. And from the capital Harare, you have to take a 128 km drive towards the north-west direction.

Limestone and dolomite are the main composites of this extensive cave system and is well known for its pool of clear blue water called Sleeping Pool or Chirorodzira. This is a fine place for diving and other marine activity. With a visibility of no less than 50 meters, the crystal clear water is a heaven for even observing under water life.
