Topkapi Palace Museum : Istanbul

A major attractions among tourists as well as historians, Topkapi Palace is situated in the Istanbul city. The museum is situated in a palace that was built in the 15th century during the reign of Sultan Mehmed II. It was converted into a museum of the imperial era in the year 1924. The size of the museum will leave you short of words to describe it. The palace has more than 100 rooms and chambers of which only few are open to public. The museum holds a large collection of porcelain items, weapons, armors, important manuscripts and literature, and different kinds of Ottoman jewelery. Topkapi Palace Museum is among the set of monuments which was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 1985.
