Mt. Kailash

It is one of those unique pilgrimage destinations that are considered sacred by many religions. Mt. Kailash is one of the toughest pilgrimage spots to reach. For Hindus, Mt. Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. They consider Mt. Kailash as the center of the world and the four rivers flowing through Kailash the ones that divide the world into four different parts. Buddhist call it Mountain Kang Rimpoche and consider it the resting place of Lord Buddha. For Jains, this is Mt. Ashtapada, the place where Sage Rishabhadeva, founder of Jainism, attained nirvana. With no connection at all with the developed regions, one has to have the ultimate devotion and dedication to reach even to the foot of Mt. Kailash.
