Journey on Lhasa Express

Passengers just cannot believe what they experience during the highest railway journey in the world. Operating since 2006, most of the journey is 13,000 feet above the sea level which reaches its peak at 16,640 feet. This 48 hour journey commences in Beijing, capital of China and ends in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. While covering 2,525 miles of its journey, it crosses through fast frozen lands, barren deserts, Qinghai Lake and the famous city of Golmund which is known for its lunar like landscape. When the train passes Golmund, there is a steep climb and this moment oxygen is released into the cabins. They also provide personal oxygen canister to people who still feels out of air. However, most of the passengers are left breathless because of the beauty of Tibet.
