Ngorongoro Conservation Park is an important natural site which also encompasses the famous archaeological site of Olduvai Gorge. The park also has in it the Ngorongoro crater which probably is the main attraction of the park. The park covers a total area of 8,288 km2 about 180 km west of Arusha. Recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO in the year 1979, Ngorongoro Conservation Park is rich with flora, fauna and avi fauna. The lush green Ngorongoro crater is an absolutely splendid sight to behold. You could see here different animals grazing on the plains or drinking from the water ponds scattered in the crater. Animals like rhino, zebra, wildebeests, lions, hippos and many more can be seen in the crater. Take a jeep safari to the floor of the crater and enjoy the unbridled nature from up close.
