MOT To Introduce New Guidelines For Motels On Highways

Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India is considering providing best hospitality at highways of the country. For this, the department is ready to set new classifications for Motels that are located at highways. For this, the MOT has started discussing the same with the tourism and hospitality industry along with the stakeholders. The top official of MOT also confirmed that new guidelines are also made to treat Motels separately from the Hotel classifications. The intention is to promote the hospitality facilities at highways for travelers and provide the Motels with enough cafes, rest rooms, toilet facilities and other facilities.

The officials also cleared that after the specific guidelines are set for highways Motels, various incentives like tax concessions and other elements will be provided to the investors. As per recent report, the proposal is to provide Motel space at a 50 mts distance from the highways. However, further details will be cleared later on. This new step from MOT is considered to provide new and high-class facilities to travelers all over India. It is also not clear that these guidelines will be applied for Urban Highways or will be extended to suburban highways also.
