Gujarat Requests For Better Air Connectivity To Delhi And Mumbai From Kandla

In order to promote tourism, development, industries and economic activities in Kandla Gujarat, Saurabh Patel, Civic Finance Minister, Gujarat has requested Union Civil Aviation Minister, Ashok Gajapathi Raju to introduce new Air India flights on the Kandla-Mumbai and Kandla-Delhi routes. With the best air connectivity, Kandla will gain attention of industries and commercial activities. This will also promote Kandla port and SEZ where business class travelers will have an easy access to the place. The nearest airport to Kandla is Bhuj, however, it is about 60 km away. This airport has only one flight of Air India and two flights of Jet Airways that are considered very less, as compared to the demand.

The minister also stated that currently there are about 3000 medium and large-scale industries in the region and current flights are unable to cope with the increasing demand of commercial travelers. Thus, passengers have to pick flights from Rajkot or Ahmedabad to flight to Mumbai and Delhi. Thus, the introduction of new flights to these routes will be beneficial for the national carrier along with easing the life of travelers from Kandla to Delhi and Mumbai.
