Fairbanks, Alaska's 'Golden heart city' is located in the heart of Alaska and is glorified with prosperity for its gold trade. In winter, the temperature drops to - 50 degrees Celsius for days and therefore sledge dogs form a part of life here. In Fairbanks, the northern lights are visible 240 nights of the year.

Many a times, it has sent alarm bells ringing for the fire department fearing it to be forest fire!

Fishing is one of the prime activities in this place and that too fishing for salmon. It is known that five types of salmon are found in the Alaskan waters. Above that, catching the halibut fish from the sea is a great challenge and different competitions are also organised where a lucrative cash is given to the winner.

Fairbanks also hosts a special treat for the species of migratory birds in the Tanana valley Sandhill Crane festival. Winter provides a wealth of activities like snowmobiling, cross country skiing, dog mushing and ice fishing. In March, ice sculptors from all over the world throng to Fairbanks to compete in the 'world ice art championships'.

The beautiful people, awesome places, serene beauty -feels like heaven on earth. Truly,Fairbanks in Alaska knits an aura of enchantment.
