1. Domestic Air Passengers Experiencing Decent Growth
With various tourism promotional activities in India, Domestic air passenger is experiencing decent growth every month. As per recent report, there is a marginal growth of 25.25% were about 78.72 lakh domestic fliers visited various tourists spots in the country than which was 62.85 lakh last year. Further, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) statistics shows that during January to March the figure increased by 24.03%, which is 230.03 lakh fliers and was just 185.46 lakh fliers during this period last year. IndiGo also gained high preference from passenger that has led to 38.4% market share in March, which was only 36.8% in previous month. On the other hand, the market share of Jet Airways has experienced a slight decrease to 17.7%, which was 18.4% in last month.
In this order, other airline like SpiceJet also experienced a decline in the market share to 12.3% from 13.1% in February 2016. The same decline is also experienced in Air India that is reduced to 14.7% from 15.4% in the month. The report also states that smaller airlines have somehow maintained their market share however have experienced a small decline.
