1. Low Cost Carrier - Air Carnival Launched Its First Flight
Low cost carrier - Air Carnival launched operations with its maiden flight from Coimbatore to Chennai from today. The new airline plans to focus on short haul services with its ATR72-500 aircraft at first. The promoters of this project are investing around 12 million USD to take three aircraft on lease for the time being. The carrier charged INR 1 for the first flight and it plans to keep the tariff at INR 999 for the first three months for travelers.
The first flight took off from Coimbatore Airport at 7.30 AM and landed at Chennai airport around 9 AM. The flight route for first day was Coimbatore-Chennai-Madurai-Chennai-Coimbatore. The airline targets to have daily services for 10 sectors in near future including 3 daily flights from Chennai to Coimbatore (For Both Ways) and two daily flights for Chennai to Madurai (For Both Ways).
