1. Nalanda Gets UNESCO World Heritage Recognition
The Excavated Remains at “Nalanda” have got included in the Tentative List of World Heritage by UNESCO now. The nomination report for “Excavated Remains of Nalanda Mahavihara” was prepared and submitted by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in January 2015 to the World Heritage Committee, UNESCO for the purpose of its inspection in the year 2016. On 15th July, 2015 it has got inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Nalanda is one of the rarest symbols of outstanding achievements in site-planning, institution-building, art and architecture in India. Nalanda architectural site symbolized the innovative processes of the organized transmission of ideas through education, the multiplicity of knowledge production and an advanced shared heritage of people living in multiple regions of Asia.
