As per Air India Chairman and Managing Director, Ashwani Lohani, passenger of Air India will be served by only hot Indian vegetarians meals in domestic flights that have flying time between 60 to 90 minutes rather than providing cold veg snacks. This facility will be implemented in all the domestic flights of Air India from January 1, 2015 and will be for economy class passenger despite of facing strong reactions from various sections of society in this decision. This information is cascaded by the circular that was issued on December 23, 2015 by general manager of Air India.
Due to this decision, non-veg meals are completely marked off from the menus of such domestic flights of Air India along with no tea and coffee in the flight if flight time duration is of lunch or dinner. The most important reason mentioned for this change is concerns of crewmembers, as they get only 30-40 minutes in 60-80 minutes flight time to serve their passengers.
