National Museum: Colombo

Opened in the year 1877, National Museum in Colombo is the largest museum of Sri Lanka. The building in which it is housed is built in Italian architectural style and was designed by J.G Smither. The museum is true reflection Sri Lankan history and culture. Its collection includes various antique items and paintings from different eras. There are nearly 4000 palm leaf manuscripts and the library has more than 12 million titles related to literature, archeology, zoology arts and many more.
