Situated in the southwestern region of Slovenia, Skocjan caves are one of the most magnificent wonder of nature anywhere in the world. It is a system of limestone caves that are nearly 200 m below the ground level and runs for 5 km. There are many waterfalls inside the cave system, the views of which will leave you gasping for suitable words for their beauty. The disappearance of the Timavo River into the Škocjan Caves, especially when running high is simply awe inspiring. There are many indications that a civilization thrived in this cave system which also makes it an important archaeological site.
