Velikiy Novgorod

Velikiy Novgorod is the oldest town in Russia with some of the most magnificent medieval era structures in entire Russia. The most famous of all is the St. Sophia Cathedral. Build between the year 1045 and 1050, it is the oldest monuments to still be in use in Russia and the first one to employ the unique Russian architecture. The other must visit attractions of the town are Yuriev Monastery and Antoniev Monastery.
