A UNESCO world Heritage site, Danube Delta is the second largest delta in Europa. This delta is known to have formed some 10.000 years ago and is still growing at a phenomenal rate. The entire delta covers an area of 4152 Km2, of which 3446 km2 is present in Romania. Danube Delta has been recognized as one of the most important ecological destinations in Europe, supporting a huge number of rare flora and fauna. Danube Delta is a splendid place for bird watching as there are nearly 320 species nesting here every summer.
