White water rafting anywhere is high adrenaline stuff, but in Portugal it is pacifying as well. The surrounding mountainous regions offer plenty of picturesque sights that sometimes takes your mind off all the actions that you are involved in. Most of the fast flowing rivers like Rio Minho, Rio Pavia, and Rio Tamega are present in the northern part of Portugal. Where Rio Minho is apt for beginners, Rio Pavia and Rio Tamega prove to be a challenge for even the seasoned. Though the water during the winters do get chilly, the rivers never freeze and are open to white water rafting throughout the year.
