Sintra

Lord Byron, the famous British poet referred to Sintra as “perhaps the most delightful village in entire Europe”. The outlook of the village has not changed much since and still is the same cool, calm and quiet township. Sintra once served as the most liked summer residence for Portuguese kings for more than 500 years. Situated just 29 km northwest of Lisbon, it is a popular getaway destination for Lisbon citizens as well as tourists to this capital city of Portugal. On the highest point of the town is the most famous attraction of Sintra, the ruins of Castelo dos Mouros, an 8th century Moorish citadel. The citadel offers magical views of the sea.
