Monument To The Discoveries: Lisbon

Situated on the banks of Tagus, Monument To The Discoveries is an dominating structure in Lisbon. Build to commemorate the 500 years of death of Henry The Navigator, it was opened in the year 1960. The monument is designed like a ship's bow that juts out o the water. The statue of Henry- The Navigator stands right at the top and is followed by figures of many other famous people from different fields of profession. The monument rising to a height of 52 meter has a small multimedia exhibition inside it which displays the history of Lisbon.
