Al-Mirani Castle

Al: Mirani Castle is situated on top of the western rocks dominating the skyline of the capital city Muscat. The views of Muscat afforded from top of the fort is simply magnificent. Al-Mirani Castle dates back to 16th century when it was built by the Portuguese. It remained the headquarters of Portuguese for the whole time they were in command of Oman. After the Portuguese were ousted from Oman, the fort was reformed and built into its present form.
