Lake Inle: Shan

With an area of nearly 116 km2, Lake Inle is the second largest freshwater lake in Myanmar. Lake Inle is an important link in the scheme of ecosystems as more than 20 species of snails and nine species of fishes are found here which are seen nowhere else in the world. Over the years, it has become a major tourist destination which has induced development of tourism infrastructure in the area. Situated in Shan state, Lake Inle is also famous for traditional boat race held during Hpaung Daw U Festival.
