The name of this park might not be easy to remember, but it sure is hard to forget the garden once you get a sight of it. People address the park as SSR Botanical Garden but it is also commonly called Pamplemousses Botanical Garden. The oldest Botanical garden in southern Hemisphere, Pamplemousses Botanical Garden is a famous tourist attraction known for its gigantic water lilies. Built in the year 1770, Pamplemousses Botanical Garden has different spices, ebonies, sugar canes and 85 varieties of palm trees; many of which have been planted by renowned leaders from around the world like Indira Gandhi, Princess Margaret, Robert Mugabe and many more. The park covers an area of 37 hectares and is a must see attraction situated near Port Louis.
