Batu Caves

Around 30 minute drive away from Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves are a natural sightseeing attraction as well as an important pilgrimage destination. Batu Caves are a prehistoric limestone formation which derive their name from the Batu River that flows past the hills. Some say the name signifies a nearby village called Batu. The temple inside the caves is dedicated to Lord Murugan and is one of the most revered Hindu Pilgrimage destinations outside India. You need to climb up 272 steps to get to the caves but the breathtaking views of the caves are worth every moment of those efforts. At the starting of the staircase, there is huge statue of Lord Murugan. Rising to height of 42.7 metres, this is the largest statue of Lord Murugan anywhere in the world.
