Mount Kenya National Park

Among the most diverse homes of wildlife anywhere in the world, Mount Kenya National Park is surely the most visited attraction in Kenya. Opened in the year 1949, the national Park covers an area of around 715 sq. km. Apart from the variety of wildlife that is found here, it has excellent scenic views and great fauna diversity. For this, the park was recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and when combined with the 705 sq. km forest reserve circumscribing the park, it was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The famous Mount Kenya is also a part of the park, as the name would have already suggested to you. Elephants, cape buffaloes and monkeys are the most sighted mammals in the park. Most of the animals are found at lower altitudes.
