Blarney Castle

Situated near the beautiful River Martin, Blarney Castle is a one of the oldest castles still standing in Ireland. Build at the end of 12 century, this castle was once destroyed in the year 1446 but was soon reconstructed by the King of Munster, Cormac MacCarthy. Today it is in partial ruins but most of it is intact and some of the rooms can still be explored. However the best attraction is the stone of Eloquence , famously called the Blarney Stone. Visitors kiss the stone which is slightly away from the floor by hanging upside down. Though it may seem a slightly dangerous act but it is perfectly safe and enjoyable. It is said that it brings the person kissing the gift of eloquence. The beautiful surrounding gardens and the wishing steps are another attractions of the castle.
