Unreal is the only word that comes to mind when one sees this fortress called Arg-é Bam. Covering an area of 180,000 sq. m, it was the largest abode structure in the world. Abode is another name for non-baked clay bricks which were used for the construction of the entire fortress. One cannot help but get fascinated by the immaculate level planning that is exhibited in Arg-é Bam. In the middle of the fortress, the citadel which is called Bam Citadel is present at the highest point from where complete fortress could be seen. A large portion of the fortress was destroyed during an earthquake in 2003 but the structure is still retains its glory.
