There are two wildlife sanctuaries in Guwahati; The Kaziranga National Park and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. Temples of Hajo:
Located in the village of Hajo, there are some temples devoted to different Indian Deities. The village is located on the bank of Brahmaputra River. The place holds a great mythological importance for Muslims, Buddhists and Hindus. The village is approximately 30 kilometers from the main city and is most well known for the Hayagriva Madhava Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Indeed all these temples are sacred and offer solace to the souls.
Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary:
A great chance to locate the small groups of Rhinoceros is here. Visit the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and have a lifetime experience. Although the sanctuary is small in area it has a rich density of Rhinoceros. The elephant ride of the sanctuary offers you to experience a close visit to the rhinoceros. There are many other animals who share the sanctuary with the Rhinoceroses like wild buffalo, jackal, and wild boar.
Nehru Park:
Named after the first Prime Minister of India, The Nehru Park is a prime tourist’s attraction in Guwahati. It is situated across the Cotton College. The lush green park is the perfect place to take a stroll in the evening and relax in the awesome weather. The musical fountain in the park makes a great attraction.
Guwahati Planetarium:
Dedicated to spreading the awareness of astronomy the Planetarium makes a great attraction in Guwahati. The sky watching shows are the main attraction of this place and are organized daily. The shows focus on creating awareness about the universe and the astronomy. The shows are broadcasted in three languages that are Hindi, English, and Assamese. The place is indeed a fun and knowledge gaining a place for children.
Kamakya Temple:
The complex of 20 temples is located at the hill top of Nilachal Hil. The Kamkhya Temple, however, is the most renowned. It is the oldest and the most sacred temple and also one of the 51 Shakti Piths. The temple comprises of three chambers, 3 mandapas, and 1 garbhgriha. The place remarks the Yoni of the great goddess shakti as her burning body was being carried by Lord shiva.
Saraighat Bridge:
The bridge is a connecting link between Indian and the Northeast. It saw the traffic for the first time in 1962 and is the first rail cum Road Bridge in India. It is located across the Brahmaputra River. The historic battle of the Ahoms and the Mughals took place in this same place where the Ahoms had a historic win.

The National Highway 31 and National Highway 37 are the two highways that connect Guwahati with rest of the India. You can hire a taxi at a bargaining price and enjoy the ride to the amazing city of the Northeast.

There is two railway station in the city; Kamkhya Junction and Guwahati Junction. The Guwahati junction is the larger one and has a good rail network connecting the city with other Indian cities.
