Oktoberfest, Munich

If you are a party lover, then Oktoberfest is the time to be in Germany. Held in Munich at the end of September, Oktoberfest is a 16 day gala marked withs lots and lots of beer. The beginning of the festival dates back to 1810 when engagement of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Theresa became a reason to throw a grand party. The fairgrounds of Munich which is the spot for the Oktoberfest, are stuffed with refreshment stands, shooting galleries, open air concerts, merry go rounds, thrill rides and lots of beer wagons. It is estimated that during this period, 5 million litres of “Wies'n” beer which is specially made for this occasion, 400,00 sausages and 600,000 chickens are consumed by nearly 6 million people.
