The South African Open Championship is renowned worldwide as the second-oldest national golf championship, after the British Open and is returning back to the famous Durban Country Club in Durban after 1893.
The South African Open Championship in 2011 is one of the principal tournaments on the Sunshine Tour. It is also well-known as the flagship event, co-sanctioned by the European Tour that receives a special recognition from the Official World Rankings. However, the actual winner being guaranteed a minimum of 32 points regardless of the strength of the field.
The PGA European Tour and its American counterpart, the PGA Tour, are considered to be the most famed and richest golfing competitions in the world. It is now looked upon as initiated in year 1903, introduced a non-stop series of exhibition matches, and was predominantly contested over just 36holes, till the time it was expanded to become a 72 hole tournament in 1908.
