This is a 90 year old celebration of art forms in the Austrian city of Salzburg. Primarily dedicated to music and drama, this festival invites artists from every corner of the world to its platform to showcase the new in the fields of operas, theaters and concerts. The 2011 edition of Salzburg Festival revolved round the central theme of Mythology. Accordingly, the dramas and operas are chosen to be performed which includes Oedipus, Phaedra and Hofmannsthal's adaption of Richard Strauss's classic- Electra.
The Austrian city of Salzburg is all geared up to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Salzburg Festival. This is a prominent festival of Austria that is dedicated to music and drama. This year around the theme of Salzburg Festival is Mythology. And all the performances will revolve around this central theme. This year, opera in Salzburg will witness Hofmannsthal's adaption of Richard Strauss's classic tragedy- Electra; Reformation opera by Willibald Gluck and Alban Berg's Lulu. Famous French artist Patricia Petibon is going to be a part of the opera session.
