Nehru Boat Race is the most explored boat race that takes place in Kerala every year to pay a tribute to the ideal Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Nehru Boat Race, the water extravaganza of Kerala in India is a very challenging boat race for the participants, and the overall fun and festivity really inspires you with great awe. Locally renowned as Vallam Kali or Vallamkali literally means boat play/game, the race has its followers worldwide, and is organized in the Punnamada Lake nearby the Alappuzha area of the state.

Alternatively, called as the snake boat race as it is 135 feet length it mainly diverts your your attention towards the competition of Chundan Vallams. It includes crews of more than hundred men striving hard to win the desirous trophy. Effervescence and rhythmic boat songs or Vanchipattu work, as well as the cheering attitude amidst everyone is powerful enough to send you into the state of frenzy. And the time it is witnessed by the high rank officials, it will certainly increase its intensity.

Finally, the unique feature of the race, the Nehru trophy belonging to the time when Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was the Prime Minister of India. Its appearance looks similar to a snake boat made up of silver, on wooden abacus on which his kind words are inscribed above his signature.
